Umpires and baseballs are provided
7-game minimum schedule
Pools of four (may be five if uneven pools in which case not round robin)
First round of pool play determines Diamond/Gold division placement
Second round of pool play (Diamond/Gold) will determine seeding for championship round
Single-elimination Championship round
In the event there are fewer than 12 teams in an age division, rather than two rounds of pool play there will be only one. Teams will then advance to a double-elimination round rather than single-elimination, and there will be only one bracket rather than Diamond and Gold.
Trophies awarded to first- through third-place (two 3rd place trophies due to bracket configuration)
AAU National Championship medals awarded to first through eighth place teams
Participating teams must be members of AAU. Club or team must have club membership. Each player and coach must have individual memberships. Coaches' memberships may take up to ten days to process so be sure to apply early. Click here to obtain memberships. Note a coach must have his/her individual membership before applying for a club membership.
To qualify, you may win a Super Regional tournament, win an AAU Baseball Junior Olympic Series tournament, participate in three Super Regionals, participate in an AAU Baseball National League (AAUBNL), or participate in a district (state) championship qualifier.
Teams from states that do not have qualifiers may apply for an at-large bid by contacting email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org, and submitting the At-Large application on the previous page.
Teams are encouraged to register for the Grand Nationals prior to qualifying to be sure the tournament doesn't sell out before you are able to qualify. Just prior to the start of the Grand Nationals, all teams will be checked to ensure they did qualify through one or more of the qualifying options. Teams that did not qualify through one of the options or an at-large bid will be removed from the Grand Nationals event.
INTENT TO PARTICIPATE:
Teams should file an Intent to Participate to indicate interest in attending. An Intent to Participate does not obligate a team to attend, nor does it save a berth in the event for your. Berths are confirmed once a team completes their registration, submits their entry fee, and then later qualifies. Click the Intent to Participate button to indicate your team's desire to attend the AAU Baseball Grand Nationals.
To begin the tournament registration process, click the Online Registration button. If this is the first time you have attended the Grand Nationals, you will need to create a user name and password. If you have created your user name and password to purchase your memberships, we recommend (but do not require) that you use the same user name and password for the Online Registration as you did for the AAU Membership system. Note that a user name and password must be created for each of the systems although the same information may be used for both. The information from the AAU Membership system does not automatically transfer to the Online Registration system.
Once you have signed in, be sure to include your club code when you reach that field.
After you have added your team and your age group, you will be ready to add your athletes. Here are two terms that you may not be familiar with that the system may ask you about:
1) Cross boundary athlete: an athlete that is not in your district. Up to 40% of your roster may be from a district that connects with (touches) yours. A team from Georgia may have players from Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, North Carolina, and/or South Carolina, but may not have a player from Virginia;
2) Pickup/Add-On Athletes: an athlete that was not on your roster at the time you qualified for the Grand Nationals. You may add up to five Pickup Athletes to your roster provided you do not exceed the roster maximum.
9U and 10U teams may have a maximum of 20 players, no more than four coaches (or three coaches and one scorekeeper). Teams may have two batpersons between the ages of 8-18. One team administrator may be on each roster but will not have access to the dugout.
